Tall Ships...

Hail Clipper, that very fast sailer,
Not a specific design,
Rather a state of mind,
Round 19th century,
Fast, sleek, and state of the art,
Race to bring Chinese tea,
Speed be ye breath,
Your crew be ye children....

Tall ships that opened the way,
Columbus to the East Indies,
Drake round the globe,
Perry to the Pole,
49ers to gold fields,
Yet countless more,
Each into destiny bore,
Carried before the wind,
To annals of time....

Lost to the seven seas,
Whispering canvas before breeze,
Giving birth to Nations,
Giving rise to Empires,
Now ghosts upon the water,
Yet in the hearts of sailors,
In the spirit of each,
Tall ships shall live forever.....
