Surrounded by people
And yet all alone
She stood and gazed toward the stars
Looking for answers
Longing for an explanation
Of times that had passed

Times of joy
Of happiness and contentment
Times of fear
Of hatred and resentment
Times of pain
Both physical and mental

Her suffering well hidden
Masked by a facade of calm
Her heart shattered
Held together with fruitless hope
Now is the time she whispered
As she stepped before the train
